Commercial Concrete Is a Different Kind of Job

Commercial concrete work involves larger volumes, tighter timelines, and surfaces that need to hold up under far more stress than a residential driveway or patio. A warehouse floor takes forklifts, heavy pallets, and constant foot traffic. A commercial parking lot handles hundreds of vehicles a day. A loading dock gets hit with truck traffic and extreme point loads from equipment.

That means the standards we hold ourselves to on commercial jobs are higher in every way. Thicker slabs. More reinforcement. More precise grading. More attention to joint placement and curing time. When a business is counting on a floor or parking area to stay in service, cutting corners on the install is not something we do.

We have worked with businesses across Laredo on projects ranging from small commercial slabs to full site flatwork for new construction. We understand that your time is money, and we work with your schedule to minimize disruption to your operations. If you are also managing outdoor pedestrian areas, our sidewalks and flatwork services can be scoped alongside the larger commercial work.

Commercial Concrete Work We Handle in Laredo

We work with property owners, general contractors, developers, and business operators throughout the Laredo area. Here is a breakdown of the commercial concrete services we provide:

  • Commercial parking lots and parking area expansions
  • Warehouse and industrial interior floor slabs
  • Loading dock aprons and approach slabs
  • Retail site flatwork and pedestrian plazas
  • Equipment pads for HVAC units, generators, and machinery
  • Concrete curbs, gutters, and drainage channels
  • Site access drives and internal road surfaces
  • Commercial sidewalks, ADA-compliant ramps, and pathways
  • Concrete repair and panel replacement for existing commercial surfaces

Every commercial quote we provide includes a site visit, a clear scope of work, and upfront pricing with no hidden additions. We do not start work until you know exactly what is being done, what materials are being used, and what the timeline looks like.

How We Approach Large Commercial Pours

Large commercial slabs require more planning than residential work. Before we ever mix a yard of concrete, we need to know the load requirements, the drainage plan, the joint layout, and the finish spec. We work from a detailed plan so that every crew member on site knows what they are doing and in what order.

For high-traffic floors, we use a heavier concrete mix with a higher PSI rating and add fiber reinforcement or rebar grids depending on the application. We also pay close attention to curing time. Commercial floors that are put back into service too early can develop surface scaling and micro-cracks that reduce the life of the slab significantly.

Laredo's climate creates specific challenges for large commercial pours. High heat in summer months accelerates the curing process, which can cause surface cracking if the fresh concrete dries too quickly. We time our commercial pours to avoid peak heat where possible and use curing blankets or compounds to slow moisture loss and maximize slab strength. The same care and preparation that goes into our concrete slab and foundation work applies at every scale.

Questions About Commercial Concrete Work

Ready to discuss your commercial project? Call us at (956) 955-8166 and we will set up a site visit.

How thick should a commercial parking lot slab be?+
For standard passenger vehicle parking lots, a 5 to 6-inch concrete slab is typically the right thickness. If the parking area will also be used by delivery trucks, semi-trucks, or heavy equipment, we recommend 7 to 8 inches with rebar reinforcement. The right answer depends on the load you are designing for, and we will specify the correct thickness and reinforcement as part of your quote.
How long does a commercial concrete project take?+
It depends on the size of the project. A small commercial slab or equipment pad can often be completed in one or two days. A full parking lot or large warehouse floor may take one to two weeks including forming, pouring in sections, and allowing proper cure time between pours. We will give you a realistic project schedule before we start so you can plan your operations around the work.
Do you work as a subcontractor on larger construction projects?+
Yes. We regularly work as a concrete subcontractor on commercial builds managed by general contractors. We are licensed, insured, and experienced with the documentation and coordination that larger projects require. If you are a GC looking for a reliable concrete sub in the Laredo area, give us a call and we can talk through your project timeline and requirements.
